Homework

Wednesday, May 20th we will be going to a baseball game in Joliet. Bring your $7 ticket money ($12 if ordering a lunch) to Mr. Lowe by April 27th.

Language Arts Journal Prompts are posted under links. One entry is due every Friday for 3rd hour unless otherwise noted.

Students are expected to read their Independent Reading (IR) books each night for Literature.

Fourth Quarter Language Arts—Students will be studying verbals and their roles in sentences as well as complex sentences. Students will then be writing a graduation speech.

Fourth Quarter Literature—Students will be reading Watsons Go to Birmingham to follow-up with their Civil Rights unit in Social Studies. We will then be studying poetry and Shakespeare to finish the year.

Fourth Quarter Reading Requirements

**The last day to turn in Signposts for Independent Reading Books is Friday, May 15, 2015. Students should complete three signposts per book. More explanations can be found in the link just above this.

8th Grade Language Arts Fourth Quarter —Students will be studying verbals and their roles in sentences. Additionally, students will be writing a comparison/contrast essay after reading Watsons Go to Birmingham. The last major writing assignment will be the graduation speech. One student from each eighth grade team will be selected to read his/her speech at the graduation ceremony on May 28th.

8th Grade Literature Fourth Quarter—Throughout the quarter students will be analyzing fiction and nonfiction works related to the Civil Rights movement and then reading poetry and Shakespeare.

Important deadline: All independent reading book forms are due by May 15, 2015.

Textbooks are kept in my classroom but can be sent home as needed for assignment completion. Students just need to ask me for one!
