What’s happening in Literature and Language Arts? Students are expected to read their Independent Reading (IR) books each night.
SEPTEMBER 1 - 5, 2014
MONDAY No School/Labor Day
Lit: Book jacket work in class/rough draft due Thurs.
LA: Acrostic work/rough due Wed.
Lit: Book Inventory/Book jacket
LA: present acrostic/improve word choice using thesaurus/final due Friday
Lit: Book jacket draft due/final due tomorrow/Share Reading Inventory
LA: MAP Testing in computer lab
Lit: Share final book jacket with class
LA: Share final acrostic with class
8th Grade Language Arts First Quarter —Students will be reviewing parts of speech, sentence patterns, paragraph and essay construction. Students will also engage in biography research.
Important deadline —All journals must be handed in by October 3, 2014.
8th Grade Literature First Quarter— Students will be reviewing elements of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Students will be reading short stories and Civil War related fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
Important deadline: All independent reading book forms are due by October 17, 2014.
Textbooks are kept in my classroom but can be sent home as needed for assignment completion. Students just need to ask me for one!
