Language Arts Journal Prompts are posted under links. Five entries are due for LA hours 6 and 8 on Friday, December 5th. One entry is due every Friday for 3rd hour unless otherwise noted.

Students are expected to read their Independent Reading (IR) books each night for Literature.

8th Grade Language Arts Second Quarter —Students will be studying sentences patterns and applying comma rules. Students will also be reviewing parts of speech: adjectives, verb, adverbs, and prepositions. Students will be working on persuasive writing paragraphs and essays. Language Arts and Science will collaborate for the school-wide science research project.

8th Grade Literature Second Quarter—Students will be studying fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. This quarter students will be working with mysteries and survival pieces. All students should always be working on an independent reading selections.

Important deadline: All independent reading book forms are due by January 9, 2015.

Textbooks are kept in my classroom but can be sent home as needed for assignment completion. Students just need to ask me for one!
