Welcome to Music Class!

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Keisha Sanders and this is my fourth year at Ottawa Elementary teaching General Music to grades K-4. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University.  I've been the director of Friendly City Sound at Central Intermediate School for the past 9 years.   I have also taught piano and voice lessons privately for several years.  My husband and I have three children and we enjoy attending all of their sporting and music events.  I look forward to meeting all of my Lincoln students!

Classroom Information

Kindergarten, Third and Fourth Grade General Music: Students have music once a week for a 40 minute period.  During this time, emphasis is put on pitch matching and reading musical notation.  Students will be using these concepts as they practice singing songs, performing with musical instruments, and learning about genres of music.  The students will also learn to have an appreciation of music as they learn more about the history of music.

Grading:  Students are graded based on participation in music class, as well as music assessments.  Grades will be updated periodically on Teacher Ease.
