Ms. Sheridan - ESL

Meet the Teacher

Hello!

My name is Kelsey Sheridan and I am one out of three English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers in the Ottawa Elementary District.  I have worked for three years in Puerto Rico teaching 1st grade at a bilingual school. After, I was able to move back to Ottawa, my hometown, to teach PreK - 8th Spanish for 5 years at Marquette Academy. Now, I look forward to working with the English Language Learners (ELLs) at McKinley and Central schools.

Who is an ELL?

An English Language Learner is a student who can speak or understand more than one language other than English.

How are ELs identified?
As an ESL teacher, how can I help ELLs?

I am in the classroom supporting them on their journey in becoming proficient in the 4 domains of the language: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
