Asbestos and Pest Management

ASBESTOS POLICY STATEMENT
This is to notify and remind parents, students, and others visiting the Ottawa Elementary School District #141 that the Ottawa School District is not totally asbestos free. Ottawa Elementary Schools, District #141, has submitted its Management Plan, pursuant to the requirements of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA, 40 CFR 763) for all District #141 buildings. Copies of the Management Plans are available for review at the Ottawa Elementary District Office located at 320 W. Main Street, Ottawa, IL and in the respective school office. These plans are available for your inspection during normal business hours of the office (Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), and during other times by special arrangement. We request that appointments be made with us to review such plans. To make arrangements, please contact Marc Tabor, Director of Buildings & Grounds, at (815) 433-1133 x6007.

PEST MANAGEMENT POLICY STATEMENT
Structural and landscape pests can pose significant hazards to people, property and the environment. Pesticides can also pose hazards to people, property and the environment. It is, therefore, the policy of Ottawa Elementary School, District #141, to incorporate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures for the control of pests and to give notification of any pesticide application deemed necessary. This policy has been developed to ensure the health and safety of children, teachers, staff, administration, and all others using the district buildings and grounds.

Anyone wishing to be notified of pesticide applications can do so by signing a registry in the District Office of Ottawa Elementary. You will be notified 48 hours prior to the application. We do not have a schedule of pesticide applications because we will always attempt to solve our pest problems without the use of chemicals. As always our goal is a safe, clean pest-free school.
