Jefferson Elementary School

The first day of school is tomorrow (Aug. 20) with an 11:30 dismissal for 1st-4th grade students. Teachers will be outside in the morning at 8:05 to help students get to the appropriate line for their teacher and grade level. Just a reminder that if students are being dropped off in the morning, there is no supervision until 8:05, so please don’t drop students off any earlier than 8:05 unless they are going to eat breakfast in the cafeteria (students will use the Northwest gym doors) and that starts at 7:50 and they will remain in cafeteria until 8:05. Another reminder that if you are dropping off students, the designated drop off zone is on LaSalle street. Please do not drop off on DeLeon because that is where buses drop off, thanks. Breakfast will start on Thursday, August 21st and will again be free to all students. Lunch is also free again this year and will start on Thursday, August 21st.

We will also be having a Kindergarten orientation on Wednesday, August 20th in your child’s classroom. We are having two different sessions, one will be for the girls at 8:30 and the other will be at 9:45 for the boys. You will meet at the Southwest doors (Door 3) of the school and your teacher will be outside waiting to greet all of you. The teacher will talk a little bit about Kindergarten and go over expectations for the year. We strongly feel that this orientation is essential to start a positive school year. There will not be bus service on this day for any Kindergarten students. Parents are responsible to bring their Kindergarten students to orientation on Wednesday, August 20th. Bus service will start on Thursday, August 21st for Kindergarten students.

On Thursday, August 21st, we will be dismissing at 2:20 (for all grades K-4) until Tuesday, September 2nd. On Wednesday, September 3rd, we will start our regular dismissal of 2:50 for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We dismiss at 2:20 every Tuesday for staff to meet and work on various things. Can't wait to see everyone!!!!!

Just a reminder that Jefferson's Supply Drop Off/Open House is tonight from 5:30-7:00. We are having a session at 5:30 and at 6:15 and you can come to the session that works best for your schedule. Please enter through the North entrance, Door #1 (Doors will be propped open at 5:30). You are allowed to bring in all of your supplies on this night and meet your teacher and see your classroom. There will be many staff members inside to assist if you don't know where to go. See everyone tonight!!!!!!!

Summer break is quickly coming to an end and it's time to start thinking about school again! The nutrition department is happy to announce that all OES students will be offered their school meals (breakfast & lunch) FREE of charge again this school year! Since the free benefit is for a full meal only, children who choose to take ONLY a milk, will be required to pay for the milk at a cost of .50 and they must have funds available in their school meal account. Deposits can be made in your child's school office. Attached is the menu for the first week of school.

Just a note to say a big THANK YOU to all who participated in or donated time or supplies for our summer program! The program was bigger than last year and certainly kept us busy! We hope to offer the program again next summer so keep an eye out for info in late spring!

Tuesday afternoon hours are 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Half Day attendance is 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. -12:20 p.m.

If hired, you will be required to turn in a physical, one-step TB test and have a criminal background check completed. Apply in person at 320 West Main Street.
