Just a reminder that Jefferson will follow a Tuesday schedule until after Labor Day. Jefferson will dismiss at 2:20 through Tuesday, September 3rd. Starting Wednesday, September 4, Jefferson will resume regular hours which is dismissing at 2:50 on M, W, Th, and Friday. Every Tuesday is a 2:20 dismissal.

We had a 4th grader at Jefferson enter his artwork from school last year for a chance to be the Weather Sketcher of the Day on ABC 7 Chicago News. He was picked and featured on the news this morning! Jefferson is so proud of him and super excited that he was selected. Great Job Noah!!!!

Jefferson will be having a Kindergarten orientation tomorrow in your child’s classroom. We are having two different sessions, one will be for the girls at 8:30 and the other will be at 9:45 for the boys. You will meet at the Southwest doors of the school and your teacher will be outside waiting to greet all of you. The teacher will talk a little bit about Kindergarten and go over expectations for the year. We strongly feel that this orientation is essential to start a positive school year. There will not be bus service on this day for any Kindergarten students. Parents are responsible to bring their Kindergarten students to orientation on Wednesday, August 21st. Bus service will start on Thursday, August 22nd for Kindergarten students.

The first day of school is tomorrow and an 11:30 dismissal for 1st-4th grade students. Teachers will be outside in the morning at 8:05 to help students get to the appropriate line for their teacher and grade level. Just a reminder that if students are being dropped off in the morning, there is no supervision until 8:05, so please don’t drop students off any earlier than 8:05 Another reminder that if you are dropping off students, the designated drop off zone is on LaSalle street. Please do not drop off on DeLeon because that is where buses drop off, thanks.

Back to School Healthy Savings

With all of the late construction happening at each of the K-4 buildings, we are going to have to cancel Supply Drop Off Night this year. We ask that students and parents break up their supplies and bring them in a little at a time. For example, bring the essentials (paper, notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, etc.) that first day of school (Wednesday) and then bring some more in on Thursday and the rest on Friday. We are going to replace Supply Drop Off Night with more of an Open House format that will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Parents will be allowed to come into their child’s K-4 school to see their child’s classroom along with meeting their child’s classroom teacher.
