Lincoln will be having a Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11th at 9:00 a.m. and would like to invite veterans who are related to our students. Please call the school office (815) 434-1250 by Wednesday, November 6th and give us the name of the veteran attending, the branch of the military he/she served in, and the name(s) of the students at Lincoln they are related to. Veterans should plan on arriving at 8:40 a.m. to check in at the office and have their driver’s license scanned. Due to limited space, we can only invite veterans to attend this assembly as we honor and thank them for their service. All students are invited to wear red, white and blue on Monday, November 11th to show their support.

Tonight is the night! Come on out and support Lincoln Social Committee.

We had another successful Family Reading Night at LES on Thursday! Thank you to all of the families that attended!
Also thanks to the amazing VIPs that attended our LES Snack and Shop this week. It was so nice to have all of you be part of the great things that happen at Lincoln!

Halloween is coming soon!

October is Anti-Bullying month. Throughout the month we will be sharing information about bullying , including the difference between bullying and conflict, The investigation process how parents can help prevent bullying, cyberbullying and more.
We talk to our students daily about our school expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. These conversations include an explanation, discussion , examples of KHFOOTY. KHFOOTY means to "Keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself". Students are reminded daily that if they are being hurt physically or emotionally, they need to tell the adult on duty.

Good afternoon Lincoln families!
Some reminders that help us keep our Lincoln students safe:
Arrival
Students may arrive at school starting at 8:00. Students will be brought into the building by Lincoln staff and walked to the classrooms when the bell rings at 8:15. Once students have entered the building, all school doors will be locked. Any student that arrives after 8:15 should enter the building at the Main Street door and buzz in to the office or the north Leland Street (back preschool) door where staff is stationed until 8:20. After 8:20, students must buzz in at the Main street door and go to the office for a pass to go to class. Students are marked tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:20.
We do not have staff assigned to any other door, but the north Leland Street door. If your child goes to the Madison Street door, they will not be able to enter.
All parent drop off, (car and walkers) should be on Leland street beginning at 8:00. Just a reminder that we have staff available on Leland to collect students that are dropped off from cars (no need to park and walk your children to the school) and make sure they get to the appropriate morning location safely.
When there is inclement weather (rain, snow, etc) all children must be dropped off at the north Leland Street entrance, where staff is stationed, in order to enter the school.
Parents that choose to walk their child to the playground upon arrival (weather permitting), please stay on the sidewalks away from the fence or student line-up areas. At school, students are taught how to appropriately interact with their peers and follow school expectations. Often students will choose instead to interact with adults that may be near the fence or line up area. It is challenging to ensure the safety of all students when there are many extra adults present.
Dismissal
If there are any changes in your child’s home transportation you need to contact their assigned teacher AND the office. Per the student handbook: we ask that all transportation adjustments be made by no later than NOON on FULL DAY attendance and 10:00 am on HALF DAY attendance. If transportation changes occur after the cut off time the request may not be honored and the student will then be transported to the location provided in our records.
Students who need to leave with their parent or other assigned adult before normal dismissal times must be signed out in the office, so that each student is accounted for in case of an emergency.
In order to best ensure the safety of our students, all Lincoln playgrounds are closed to non-school personnel from 8:00-3:00. There will be no staff supervision prior to 8:00. Please keep your child with you outside of the fence if you arrive prior to 8:00 or until after 3:00.
Your understanding and flexibility are much appreciated as we work toward the continued safety of all Lincoln students.

OES is inviting the community to come and see our Little Red Schoolhouse located between Central and Shepherd. We will host an Open House on Sunday, October 20 from 1:00-3:00.
2024 marks 30 years that the school has used by OES staff & students, so it seemed like a good opportunity to invite the public in for a look. Staff will be there to answer questions.
There will be a drawing for a Fall Pumpkin, free bookmarks & photos of the schoolhouse!
We hope everyone will attend!
