Mrs. Vincent's class made learning about rocks and minerals a "sweet" experience! Students pretended their Starbursts were sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks as they went through the rock cycle. They also used sugar cubes during their "sugar shaker" activity to see the effect that weathering and erosion can have on a rock.

There will be no school for students on Friday, October 10th and Monday, October 13th. Our office will close Friday at 12:00 and will reopen Tuesday, October 14th at 7:00am. We hope you have a wonderful, long weekend!

Tonight is the night we have all been waiting for! There will be plenty of meals available to purchase at the door if you haven't purchase already. Swing through for an easy, delicious meal that supports McKinley School! If we reach 750 tickets sold, Mr. Marxman will parade through the halls in an inflatable costume. If we reach 850, we believe it's "pie in the face" worthy. Either way, come on out to support McKinley. We'll see you tonight!

Student Council will be accepting sock donations until October 30th.
Mrs. Buckingham’s class teamed up with Ms. Hendrickson and Ms. Landis to host an American Sign Language party for Deaf Awareness in September!
Students played ASL bingo, charades, and even signed their names to send videos home to parents.
Students have worked all month learning the alphabet in sign language! They love having Hartlee in class to learn more and more each day.

Trunk or Treat fun!

Reminder: BBQ Ticket Stubs and Money are due back Friday, October 3rd. Give yourself a break from cooking and come get your family a delicious meal that also supports McKinley School!

💛💟2nd Grade’s Friendship Friday💟💛
🫶🏼Today, students in second grade were able to experience their first Friendship Friday!🫶🏼
📖Students listened to the story ‘The Great Paper Caper’ by Oliver Jeffers. Then, they discussed the author’s purpose, the central idea, and the moral of the story.📖
✈️Independently, students were able to create their own paper airplane and then fly them outside! ✈️

Please see the attached flyer from The Salvation Army regarding Angel Trees.

It's that time of year again for our fan favorite fundraiser! Students will be coming home with tickets to sell along with an informational letter. Please be sure to circle the meal options on both parts of the ticket.
The BBQ drive-thru will take place at McKinley School on Tuesday, October 7th from 4:00-6:30. All ticket stubs and money are due by Friday, October 3rd. More tickets are available by contacting the office. As always, thank you so much for your continued support!

We would like to extend a big thank you to our PTO volunteers and anyone who supported the fall book fair! Happy reading!
