Illinois Valley YMCA event!

We celebrated good behavior in the library for the 2nd trimester with a PJ party. The class winners from each grade level could wear their PJs, bring a blanket and a snack while we listened to our story. Mrs. Santoy, Ms. Bradish, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Houk and Mrs. Vincent classes were the lucky ones to attend the library PJ party.
Fun was had by all!

Cooper M. from Mrs. Walker's 1st grade class saved up enough positive red tickets to earn lunch with Mr. Marxman! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to our 3rd & 4th grade Zonta Club winners this year. These ladies exemplify good citizenship and we are proud of them!

McKinley Families,
I have some exciting news to share! We initiated our playground fundraising effort in the fall of 2022 with a large amount already saved by PTO ready to put forth as a starting fund in this effort. Our goal was to raise funds as quickly as possible in hopes of our current students having the opportunity to enjoy the new playground. Through all of our fundraising efforts we were able to raise the necessary funds to purchase the main structure of the playground equipment. However, at this time we do not have the necessary funds to purchase all of the additional sensory type equipment we are hoping to add to the playground area. After talking with our representative from the playground equipment company, it is anticipated that all of the equipment prices will continue to increase so we wanted to place our order for the main playground structure with hopes of adding additional sensory equipment in the near future.
The south playground equipment we are replacing is over 30 years old. This playground has served thousands of students throughout the lifetime of the equipment and we fully anticipate the replacement equipment to serve just as many students. School playgrounds serve students both physically and socially which are two very important elements to a child’s education. A child’s education is centered around academics, but tools such as a playground supports the academic atmosphere within a social and physical setting. The playground will be installed and ready for students to enjoy next school year. We truly cannot thank our families, community members, and local businesses enough in supporting this fundraising effort.
Respectfully,
Justin Marxman, Principal
McKinley Elementary School
